geo->data:

SOFT is a simple text (ASCII) file format which can be easily viewed or
processed with almost any text editing tool.

    gds:
	soft:		GDS files in SOFT format
	soft_gz:	gzipped

	GEO DataSets (GDS) are curated sets of comparable GEO sample (GSM) data.
	GDS data tables contain VALUE measurements extracted from original sample (GSM) records.


    geo:
	by_series:	gzipped SOFT files by series (GSE) - possibly more up to date than by_platform
	by_platform:	gzipped SOFT files by platform (GPL)
	raw_data:	original raw data organized either by individual samples (GSM) or 
			grouped into experimental series (GSE) - files may be very big


	Platform(GPL)_family files contain SOFT-formatted data for all original samples (GSM) 
	processed using one platform (GPL), and all series (GSE) associated with those
	samples.

	Series(GSE)_family files contain SOFT-formatted data for all original platforms (GPL) 
	and samples (GSM) associated with one series (GSE). 

	Both GPL_family and GSE_family files are made available so that users may choose 
	which format best suits their needs.  On the whole, the same data are presented 
	in these files, just organized differently.

	Raw-data files may include original Affymetrix .cel files, or original image scan .tif 
	files.


    geo_FASTA.txt

	The geo_FASTA file contains FASTA nucleotide sequence data for all sequence 
	accession numbers represented in GEO.
